The University of Calgary Students' Union is hoping to pick up more than trash at the seventh annual highway cleanup this weekend.
Members of the SU's Campus Recycling Board are inviting students to help clean up a stretch of the Trans-Canada highway near Chestermere Lake Sat., Oct. 29 at 10 a.m., but are also hoping students will bring their environmental concerns and suggestions.
"This is a chance for us to meet students, and to hear and address the concerns that they have in regards to SU environmental issues," said SU Vice-President Operations and Finance Joel Lockwood, who chairs the CRB.
The annual highway clean-up was cancelled last year because the CRB did not meet, said Lockwood.
Carpooling will be provided by the SU and a small party will be held afterwards to celebrate volunteers.
"It's a chance for undergrads to make a small difference and have some fun," said Lockwood.
All students are welcome, and are encouraged to contact the SU office for more details.
