For many, summer is a time to experiment. Some grow beards. Some shave their heads or dye their hair. Some go on vacations to strange places. All of these experiments ultimately reveal lessons to be learned. In Calgary, summer is a time for municipal government to experiment, this time revealing lessons regarding urban culture.

Okay, maybe not. But the Dinos men's hockey team clinching home-ice advantage for the first round of Canada West playoffs in their last home game of the regular season isn't bad entertainment either. The Dinos completed the mission in front of more than 400 fans against the top-ranked University of Alberta Golden Bears.

The battle of Alberta kicked off the weekend, supplying fans with all the name-calling, cat-fighting and general animosity one would expect in a game between these cross-province rivals. Both teams played a motivated game--many of the ladies have been competing against each other for years, not to mention the season's earlier tie.
