University of Calgary political science professor Tom Flanagan upset many when he called for the assassination of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during CBC's Power & Politics on Nov. 30

"Well, I think Assange should be assassinated actually," Flanagan said to CBC host Evan Solomon. "I think Obama should put out a contract and maybe use a drone, or something."

A Facebook group calling for the U of C to distance itself from the remarks had reached 119 supporters as of print time.

Third-year University of Calgary development studies student and social outcast Mark O'Shea formally announced Nov. 16 that he was up for anything this weekend.

O'Shea, who during his tenure at the school has made few friends and attended a sparse amount of group activities by invitation, made the heart-breaking declaration to a collection of classmates before they were able to leave the vicinity.

Tinu Sinha is stepping down from his position as executive director of NUTV and handing the torch over to Dominique Keller.

"The executive director looks after the day-to-day operations and long-term vision of the organization, making sure the organization is transparent," said Sinha.

Some names have oodles of thought put in to them and when you hear the back story or the genesis of the name, it can alter your perception of the band altogether. Others are clearly the creation of a bigwig at record company, or the product of the bravado that comes with a few too many beer. Rage Against the Machine -- profound, Pussycat Dolls -- not so much.
